Selected material

Being cold blooded reptiles need to warm up

This lizard is doing so in a very conspicuous place, there is danger above (arrow pointing at the eagle soaring above)
An eagle soaring above

Instead of escaping into the shelter of the leaves of the trees the lizard does the exact opposite, makes a run for it on the surface of the water. It is so light and fast it can run on water, consequently its other name Jesus Christ lizard.

A human would have to go as fast as 65 mph to do this

Standing or walking on water

The Brazilian pygmy gecko has water-repellant skin (arrow pointing at a droplet that can’t penetrate the skin)

It can stand or walk on water

Chameleon’s versatile skin

One side is dark to absorb as much heat as possible, the other is white to avoid losing it

Cheating

One male stealing heat from the rest

One cold male (dark in this UV image) steals heat from the rest

A male latecomer to the bunch cheats the warming-up process by implying he is female, therefore having the already-warmed-up males crawling all over him so he can steal heat from them. The video shows him gradually warming up to their temperatures.
