The sunfish hunts for jellyfish in the deep and then returns to the kelp near the surface, not to eat it. It needs service that the halfmoon fish, residing there, can provide; pick off its parasites (left). Those parasites the halfmoon can’t remove are taken care of by the gulls swimming on the surface (right) if the sunfish gives them the right signal.
