Spiders are usually lone hunters, but not these ones (the African social spider)
Seeing the adults hunt as a group may look gruesome but that’s nothing compared with the sight of the spiderlings joining them
This became worse still when one of the adults, being old, gave them (by a tap on the web) the final signal of a distressed insect. The spiderlings flocked in the eat their dying parent only to then continue to eat the rest of the adults. Only the latest generation surviving.
